Dr. Rivera-Serrano has deep connections with Colombia. He was born in Colombia and attended Medical School in Bogota. His pathway to training in plastic surgery in the United States and throughout the world started after finishing medical school among the top third of his class. He was awarded a sub-internship in plastic surgery at Harvard University, at the world-renowned Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was graded with Honors (que se abra la carta de carta aca). He then specialized in plastic & reconstructive surgery at prestigious institutions around the world. Dr. Rivera-Serrano is one of a handful of plastic surgeons who have had formal hands-on training in South America, North America, Asia, and Europe, and therefore has a very cosmopolitan plastic surgery & aesthetic vision. Being Colombian and growing up in a Latin American environment also contributes to his plastic surgery and aesthetic vision, especially in terms of body contouring surgery. He often tries to mix south American techniques with international aesthetics, always aiming for natural results. Dr. Rivera-Serrano’s father is also a Plastic Surgeon and an expert in aesthetic facial plastic surgery with over 30 years of experience. He was an inspiration to Dr. Rivera-Serrano to become an aesthetic plastic surgeon when he began attending plastic surgery cases, even before medical school.

How to fly to Bucaramanga:
It takes about 3 hours 15 minutes to fly from Miami (MIA) to Bucaramanga (BGA), so it takes less time than many US domestic flights. We recommend flying directly to Bucaramanga given it simplifies the trip and the immigration (and emigration) process, and makes the experience a breeze and more convenient. If going through Bogota you will have to exit the gates and circle back through security into the domestic terminal, having also a wait much longer for the connecting flight, where may have to take an intra-airport bus shuttle. The airport in Bucaramanga is much smaller and getting in and out the gates is very quick and easy. Transportation from the airport to the hotel can be arranged.
