Lip Enhancement

Lip Augmentation or Lip Reduction

Lip augmentation can be done to increase the fullness of your lips. Having full, plump lips is seen as a sign of youth, beauty, and health in our culture. Traditionally, tissue grafts were used to achieve this, but more recently, hyaluronic acid has been the mainstay of treatment. Results are temporary (from a few months to several months), but the complications are low.

Lip reduction can be done in patients whose lips are excessively large or disproportioned to the rest of the face. It can improve facial proportions and balance. Typically, a portion of the lip is removed, and the scar will hide inside the red portion of the lip, often being invisible. It is oftentimes better to be conservative in removing tissue and, therefore, occasionally, an additional operation(s) is needed to reach the degree of reduction desired.

You are self-conscious about the look of your lips. Your lips have always been thin and become even thinner when you smile. As you age, your lips have become thinner. Having fuller lips may improve the balance of your face.
