Surgery to correct torn earlobes and gauged ears is common and can be performed under local anesthesia. Recovery is fast. In the case of gauged earlobe repairs, the earlobe size is often likely to need to be reduced slightly compared to before the gauges were placed. This is not the case for torn earlobes, where the size should not change significantly. Scars in the earlobes typically heal very well unless there is a history of keloids and poor scarring in some dark-skinned patients.
