What is Breast Implant Removal?
Breast implant removal in Miami Beach is a surgery that aims at the removal of breast implants. Most implants are not permanent and have a shelf life of fifteen years or more. Furthermore, some patients might want to renew or remove their implants to restore them to their natural size. During these procedures, Dr. Rivera-Serrano may also remove silicone material from implant leaks and implant capsules (capsulectomy), which is the scar tissue that forms around the implants. Not infrequently, the capsule is soft and does not need to be removed (unless the patient requests it). However, the capsule sometimes becomes hard, causing pain and discomfort (capsular contracture). This is often a reason to have the implants and capsule removed. Another reason to have your implants removed is concerns of autoimmune diseases (BII or Breast Implant Illness, or ASIA Syndrome (Autoimmune/Inflammatory Syndrome Induced by Adjuvants)) or other symptoms by some patients.
