Dr. Carlos Mario Rivera-Serrano
Plastic Surgeon with 10 years of experience, trained in the United States, Europe and Asia. Dr. Rivera-Serrano is one the few Colombian surgeons specialized in the United States and certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is one of the most trained plastic surgeons in the United States and in the world, given he also completed specializations in Craneofacial Surgery, Otolaryngology / Head & Neck Surgery, and Microsurgery. His training was formal (hands on, not observerships) and includes institutions such as the University of Florida, University of Pittsburgh, Harvard University, and University of Gent in Belgium. Dr. Carlos Mario Rivera has a profound connection with Colombia, given he was born in Bucaramanga and attended medical school in Bogota. His pathway to train in plastic surgery in the United States and then the world started after graduating from medical school among the top 3 of this class. His high performance granted him a scholarship to do a sub-internship in plastic surgery at the world renown Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was graded with Honors, and at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. Later, the did two specializations and sub-specializations in the United States, Europe & Asia. Dr. Rivera’s father (Victor Raul Rivera) is also a plastic surgeon, an expert in aesthetic plastic surgery of the face.
